Bankes - Beck marriage - 1948

Wedding vows of Miss Gwendolyn Beck and Robert Bakes were spoken Thursday, June 10, in the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church by the Rev. Paul Kitterer, who performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Violet Beck, Elkader, and Mr. Bankes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bankes, also of Elkader.

Miss Bonnie Mae Lemka acted as maid of honor. Miss Kathryn Beck, sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid, and Miss Dorothy Baade as honorary bridesmaid. Gene Ruegnitz was best man.

The bride is a graduate of the Elkader high school and has been employed at the Checkerboard cafe. The groom is also a graduate of the Elkader high school and attended Junior college.

The new home has not been decided upon.
