Saturday morning, Dec. 09, at St. Joseph's church in Elkader, Darlene Dougherty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. V. Dougherty, Elkader, became the bride of Jack Dittmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Dittmer, Elkader. The Rt. Rev. Monsignor B. H. Skahill officiated. Mrs. Gerald Fassbinder, sister of the bride, presided at the organ. Twin sisters, Miss Janice Dougherty was maid of honor and Jeanette Dougherty served as the bride's other attendant. Best man was a fraternity brother of the groom, Gene Slack of Oskaloosa. Don Schmidt, a cousin of the groom, was the groom's other attendant. Ushers were Jerry and Jim Dougherty, brothers of the bride.
Following a week's wedding trip, the new couple will be at home in the Jackson Turner apartment on the East Side.
Mrs. Dittmer is a graduate of St. Joseph's high school and Elkader Junior college and attended the Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls. For the past two years she has served as clerk of the Clayton County draft board. Mr. Dittmer is a graduate of the Elkader high school and the University of Iowa, where he was an all-around athlete. He was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
