A quiet wedding service occurred Friday morning, June 30, in St. Joseph's church in Elkader, when Miss Edna Velma Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Knute Olson of St. Olaf, became the bride of William Roethler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Roethler of Elkader. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiated. Miss Lavon Roethler, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid, while Lee Olson, brother of the bride, was best man.
Mrs. Roethler is a graduate of Postville public school and attended Upper Iowa University. The past six years she has been teaching in the rural schools of Clayton county. Mr. Roethler graduated from St. Joseph school in Elkader and later attended Loras college, Dubuque, and Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. In 1941 he entered the armed services and served in the Army Air Corps at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., until he was given an honorable discharge as the result of a severe bone injury in his right arm sustained while in training. He has since been engaged in farming. The young couple will make their home on the M. R. Hurley farm in Highland township.
