Shortly before my mother-in-law passed away in November, she mentioned that her mother had twin girls when they lived in Liberty Twp., Clarke Co., in 1915. One twin died at eighteen months; no one in our generation knew of her or her name. (The other twin survived, yet it was never mentioned that she once had a twin.)
Her father's name was Solomon Hazer and her mother was Mary Kouri Hazer. He farmed, but I don't know if he owned his land. While I found their names and the names of their children in 1910 and 1920 censuses, the twin (who died of a 'childhood disease', according to my mother-in-law) is never named in either census. She probably died around 1917.
The parents were Catholic, and both were born in the region of Syria/Lebanon before emigrating separately and later meeting in Des Moines. Would parish records or cemetery records be the best resource for me to pursue this information? On-line cemetery records that I checked were sketchy, and I don't know where the baby was buried. Should I look for Catholic churches in or near Liberty Twp., or ask for the information through the Diocese of Des Moines? I would appreciate any help or information.
