John M. Carter and Almyra B. Clark were married on April 18, 1867 in Clarke County, Iowa. She appears to be the daughter of Seth Clark.

Almira Clark Carter was born about May 1848 in Michigan [1900 census]; Children were Frank Carter, born ca 1868, Iowa; Seth E. Carter, born August 1872, Iowa and Elsie H. Carter, born December 1885 in Iowa who married Homer Stowe.

Osceola, Clarke County, Iowa Death Records list John W. Carter dying on May 3, 1913 - a married man;

Civil War Pension Records list Almira Carter filing as a widow from Iowa on May 10, 1912 or 1913.
