Funeral services for Catherine Gordon, 85, Tipton, were held July 3, 1987 at the First United Church of Christ in Tipton, with the Rev. Robert Molsberry officiating. The organist was Betty Trevathan and pallbearers were Robert Stiff, Michael Stiff, William Diedrichsen, Richard Twait, Robert Sissel and Charles Kofron. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery at Wilmar, Minn. with graveside services conducted July 6 by the Rev. Beverly Crute.

Mrs. Gordon died June 30 at University hospitals in Iowa City, following a brief illness.

The daughter of Charles T. and Edith L. Austin Eddy, she was born May 21, 1902 in Blaine, Minn. She attended the Willmar public schools in Willmar, Minn. and Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., graduating in 1923. She married Samuel T. Gordon Sept. 15, 1956 in Tipton.

Mrs. Gordon was a physics, chemistry and math teacher for 52 years, with the final 25 years in the Tipton school system. She lived in Tipton for 45 years and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, A.A.U.W., Searchlight and the First United Church of Christ.

She is survived by 2 nieces, Marlene Stiff, Romeoville, Ill. and Patricia Twait, Wausau, Wis. and several great-nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and 2 brothers.
