Funeral services for Genevieve Herring, 77, Mechanicsville, were held July 3, 1987 at the First United Church of Christ in Tipton with the Rev. Robert Molsberry officiating. Betty Trevathan was the organist and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kotz were in charge of flowers. Pallbearers were Roland Herring, Kevin Kuehl, Dean Moore, Raymond Rouse, Harlan Howe and Bernard Crock. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery in Mechanicsville.

Mrs. Herring died July 1 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.

The daughter of Orlando and Frieda Hebner Howe, she was born May 22, 1910 in Rochester. She attended the rural Cedar county schools and married Maynard L. Herring Oct. 6, 1929 in Rochester.

Mrs. Herring was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of the Tipton-Mechanicsville area. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Stanwood and Past Worthy Matron National delegate.

She is survived by 2 sons, Kenneth Herring, Mechanicsville and Ardis Herring, Waterloo; 2 grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters, 2 sisters, Mrs. Victor (Helen) Gaul, Tipton and Mrs. Warren (Evelyn) Hayslett, West Branch and 2 brothers, Raymond Howe, Troy Mills and Wilson Howe, Tipton. She was preceded in death by her husband and 2 sisters.
