Funeral services for Mrs. Fred (Elva May) Bammert, 86, were held at the Horner Funeral home, Mechanicsville, Sept. 16 with the Rev. Jaymee Glen-Burns officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were David Bammert, Dan Koch, Paul Colton, Robert A. Hughes, Stephen McKee and Richard D. Hughes. Frances Robinson was organist.

Mrs. Bammert died at the Mechanicsville Care center Sept. 11.

The daughter of Abner and Myra Jan Sterns Hopper, she was born at Shellsburg Sept. 8, 1900. She married Fred Martin Bammert in Iowa City Jan. 15, 1925. They lived in Cedar Rapids until 1968 when they moved to Mechanicsville. Mrs. Bammert was active in the Sinclair Memorial Presbyterian church, Cedar Rapids and First Presbyterian church, Mechanicsville.

She is survived by a son, Melvin R. Bammert, Cedar Rapids; 5 daughters, Mrs. William (Laverna Mae) Koch, Mechanicsville; Mrs. Marvin (Lois D.) Colton, Centerville; Mrs. Donald (Bonnie J.) Hughes, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Stanley (Myrna L.) McKee and Mrs. Dennis (Nancy L.) Kupps, both of Cedar Rapids; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; a daughter, Juanita Goben, in 1971 and a granddaughter, Marsha Lyn Bammert, in 1961.
