Last rites for Mrs. Earl (Nellie M.) Whitmer, 97, were held at Wilton Sept. 16 with burial in the Oakdale cemetery. The Rev. Paul Pennington officiated. Pallbearers were Maurice, Lyle, Michael and Aaron Whitmer, Mark Petersen and Robert Baillie.

Mrs. Whitmer died at the Wilton Nursing home Sept. 13.

The daughter of Charles and Mary Moriarity Henderson, she was born at Northville, N.D. March 13, 1889. She was married to Earl Whitmer in Wilton.

She was a member of the Wilton Methodist church where she served as Sunday school superintendent for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Wilton and the NNC club.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. M. M. (Mary Ella) Tomfled, Grinnell, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband in December, 1950, a son, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and a grandchild.
