Francis Lang, 72, Tipton, died at his home late Tuesday evening, Aug. 26, following a brief illness. His body was donated to the Department of Anatomy at University hospitals in Iowa City. Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date, with burial in the West Branch cemetery.

The son of John and Lena Riedesel Lang, he was born June 26, 1914 in Tipton. He graduated from Tipton high school and married Doris Wimeke of West Branch Sept. 26, 1936 in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.

Mr. Lang was a carpenter from 1936 to 1976, when he semi-retired. He worked for United Building Centers and had been employed by Fields Lumber Co. in Tipton for the past 10 years and up until his death. He was a Tipton resident his entire life.

He was an active member of the Iowa Exotic Bird and Animal Association, the Illinois Game and Pet Breeders Society and the Civilian Conservation Corps, Chapter 69.

Memorial funds have been established for the Department of Anatomy at University hospitals, Cedar County Hospice and the Public Health Nursing Service.

Mr. Lang is survived by his wife, Doris; a daughter, Mrs. Doug (Karen) Price, Iowa City; 3 sons, John C., Tipton; Robert W., San Jose, Calif. and Larry L., Cedar Rapids; 6 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Florence Spencer, Hutchinson, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
