Final rites for Nicholas G. (Nick) Griebel, 82, were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Bennett, May 11 with the Rev. Daniel F. Ognoskie officiating. Burial was in Inland cemetery.

Pallbearers were Earl Eggert, Lloyd Grage, Warren Voss, Loren Kleppe, Chester Sherwood and Paul Wright. Don Ketelsen was vocalist and Perry Schroeder was organist. Mrs. Pearl Lentfer and Mrs. Edna Marks were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Griebel died at Cedar Manor May 8 following an extended illness.

The son of Hans and Ida Gohlke Griebel, he was born at Manning May 14, 1896 and was educated in the rural schools of Carroll county. He was married to Erna E. Byer at Ramona, S.D., Oct. 2, 1919. A resident of the Bennett area since 1939, he had been a farmer, feed salesman and carpenter.

He served as a private in World War I and was a member of the Rixe Lausen Post 104 of the American Legion at Bennett, World War I Barracks and the Bennett Senior Citizens. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church.

Mr. Griebel is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Hazel) Hartwig, Bennett; a son, Richard, Pittsville, Wis.; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and a brother, William H., Morristown, Minn. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, a brother and a sister.
