Funeral services for Howard J. Lenker, 78, Wilton, prominent Poland China breeder, were held at Grace United Church of Christ, Wilton, May 7 with the Rev. Larry Bunger officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery, Wilton. A Masonic service was held at the Gill-Lacock funeral home May 6.

Pallbearers were Leo, Harold and Marlyn Grunder, Albert Walton, Herbert Townsend and Joe Hora. Honorary pallbearers were L. E. Ochiltree, G. W. Arp, P. E. Drumm, H. M. Murrison, G. E. McCoy, H. R. Schafnit, N. R. Maurer, R. L. Crooks, N. E. Kelley, J. W. Duffe and P. R. Maurer. Mrs. Debbie Mohr was organist.

Mr. Lenker died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, May 3.

The son of Jacob and Wilhemina Kaufmann Lenker, he was born near Wilton Dec. 2, 1900. He was married to Hallie Gill at Wilton Jan. 12, 1922. Mr. Lenker was a lifelong farmer and nationally prominent in the breeding of Poland China swine.

He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge No. 167, AF&AM, Purity Chapter No. 365, Order of the Eastern Star, Wilton and the Poland China Record association.

He is survived by his wife, 5 daughters, Mrs. Merle (Dorothy) Plett, Wilton; Mrs. Albert (Mildred) Gregory, West Liberty; Mrs. Ronald (Doris) Martin, Davenport; Mrs. Duane (Shelby) Parks, East Moline and Mrs. Lester (Carol) Kuehl, Bettendorf; a son, H. Dwayne, Wilton; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, a brother and a daughter.
