Funeral services for Paul Hartwig, 91, Clarence, were held at 10:30 a.m., May 7 at St. John's United Church of Christ with the Rev. Calvin Schumacher officiating. Mrs. Robert Hasselbusch was organist with the adult choir singing. Pallbearers were Harley Dallege, Harlan Butterbrodt, Arnold Conrad, John Williams, Vern Freeman and Harold Syring. Burial was in St. John's cemetery.

Mr. Hartwig was born Jan. 16, 1888 in Cedar county, the son of William and Emma Miller Hartwig. He married Wanda Dettmann Jan. 14, 1914 at Clarence. She died in 1976. He was a retired farmer. He died May 4 at the Clarence Nursing Home.

Survivors are a half-sister, Anna Klatt; half-brother, Walter Hartwig; and stepbrother, Fred Miller, all of Clarence.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 sisters and a brother.
