Funeral services for Melvin C. Frederick 51, will be held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home at 1:30 p.m. today (March 29) with the Rev. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial will be in Shawver cemetery, Cedar Bluff. Pallbearers are Ronald Berry, Russell Anderson, Billy Campion, Harold Shotwell, Dick Mitzner and Wilmar Williams.

The son of John W. and Marie E. Kinnan Frederick, he was born near Cedar Bluff and attended the Cedar county and Tipton schools. A heavy equipment operator he spent his entire life in the Tipton area. He was married to Emma Rife in Muscatine March 26, 1974. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Russ (Donna) Dauber, Stanwood; a son, Dale, Washington; a step-daughter, Mrs. Darlene Sutton, Reno. Nev.; 3 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Marie Frederick, Mechanicsville, 2 sisters, Mrs. Grant (Mary Jane) Armstrong, Mechanicsville and Mrs. Eldon (Joann) Dietz, Tipton and 2 brothers, Lyle, Davenport and Rhea Allan, Plattsburgh, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
