Final rites for Mrs. Lorin (Doris D.) Oxley, 72, were held at the Tipton Bible church March 31 with the Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty. Sheets and Son Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were John H. Carroll, Melvin and Dale Thumma, Keith and Jim Johnson and Duane Dotson. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnson were vocalists and Mrs. Glen Nebergall was organist.

Mrs. Oxley died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, March 27, following an extended illness.

The daughter of WIlliam G. and Florence L. Shirley Nusbaum, she was born at Belle Plaine Jan. 16, 1907. She graduated from Clinton high school in 1925 and attended the University of Iowa. She was married to Lorin E. Oxley at Iowa City July 7, 1929.

She had served as a proof reader at the Clinton Herald, was a tutor in Latin and math and was secretary for the 20th Century Reformation. She had lived in Tipton most of the past 23 years.

Mrs. Oxley was a member of the Tipton Bible church and "being a Bible believer, she saw the necessity for a second birth, which she received in 1953 when she invited the Lord Jesus Christ to be her sin bearer."

Mrs. Oxley is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. John (Marilyn) Hamilton, South Pasadena, Calif.; a son, Donald, West Liberty; 6 grandchildren, and a brother, Albert L. Witmer, South Haven, Mich. She was preceded in death by a son.
