C. Elvin Thompson Rites Held Tuesday

The Reverend W. L. Hawn conducted last rites for C. Elvin Thompson Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Anita Methodist Church with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were his nephews, Clarence and Kenneth Thompson of Casey, Charles and Francis Thompson of Adair, Elston Thompson of Woodward and George McDermott, Anita. The two hymns, “Ivory Palaces” and “My Faith Looks Up to Thee” were sung by Sidney Larsen with Mrs. Eric Osen as organist. Mr and Mrs. Lyle Woldleber and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Morgan were in charge of ther flowers.

Mr. C. Elvin Thompson passed away at his home in Wiota last Saturday March 14, 1959, after a lingering illness. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Bert and two sisiters, Amanda and Belle. He was born March 9, 1886, at Stuart, Iowa, the son of John and Rebecca Thompson and was married to Dorothy Dittmer on April 3, 1917, at Cheyenne, Wyoming. They moved to Stuart, Iowa, then to Grainton, Nebraska and to Casey befor moving to a farm northeast of Anita where they lived six years before moving to Wiota last September.

He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Neil Wrede of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Mrs. Bob Petersen of Sacramento, California, Mrs. Kenneth Lett and Mrs. Tommie Christensen of Anita and Betty at home; one sister, Mrs. Cora Wines of Stuart and a brother, Ed Thompson of Casey; twelve grandchildren and many niece and nephews.

Those attending the services from out of town were Mrs. George Kohl, Mr. and Mrs. George Dittmer, Mr. and Mrs. Art Dittmer from Palmer, Kansas; Wally Thompson of Casey, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Keever of Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wrede and family of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Felt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thompson and Francis of Adair. Kenneth Thompson of Casey, Elton Thompson of Woodward, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Howell and Harold Stenmates of Grant.
