Funeral services for Bernice L. Law, 94, of Council Bluffs, were conducted June 9, 2005 at the Cutler-O’Neill Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home, with Pastor Kim Crummer, Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs

Bernice L. Law, the daughter of Albert and Louise Minnsen Shipley, was born July 7, 1910 in Council Bluffs, and died June 5, 2005 at her home.

She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the class of 1929. Sthen worked as a bookkeeper for Wilcox Greenhouse and also worked at various restaurants and lounges.

Bernice was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge #3, Methodist Women DAV Auxiliary, and Care & Share Widows Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl A. Law, in 1963; her parents; a sister, Helen Mueller and four grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Murphy and Sam, Granbury, TX; two sons: Raymond and Pat, Council Bluffs; LeRoy and Donna, Omaha; stepdaughters: Gerri Johnson, Council Bluffs; Mary Jean Walker, California; a stepson, Harold Law and Patricia, Ft. Worth, TX; three sisters: Hazel Shipley, Council Bluffs; Mabel Peterson and Les, Modesto, CA; Marian Ling, Glenwood; 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Of the original five Law families, Mrs. Earl Law was the last one, living as the longest of her generation.

Her husband was a son of the William Laws of which Susan Hogveisson was the oldest and died at the age of 101 years.

Attending Mrs. Law’s funeral on Thursday afternoon in Council Bluffs were Carma Hutchins, Elaine Bowen and Betty Bowen, all of Audubon.
