John Robert Magill, 73, of Greeley, died April 13, 2008, in Greeley. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Adamson West Chapel, 2000 47th Ave., in Greeley. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Adamson West Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Magill was born Aug. 1, 1934, to Raymond and Frances (Wahlert) Magill in Exira, Iowa. The family moved to Atwood, where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1952.
On June 14, 1953, he married Alberta Scheel in Sterling. He worked as a mechanic, a gas station owner and for the railroad, before settling on a career as a construction contractor.
Mr. Magill enjoyed collecting and fixing up cars, especially Lincolns and El Caminos. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks B.P.O.
He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Evans and husband Mike and Roxana Bracken and husband Gregory, all of Greeley, and Juliet Russell and husband Thomas of Wellington; son, Robert Magill of Loveland; brothers, Kenny Magill of Oklahoma, Chet Magill of Leadville, and Glen Magill of Atlantic, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Magill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rose Marie Blando; and brother, Larry Magill.
