GEORGE KNESS DIED

MONDAY EVENING
Funeral Services Held From
Christian Church Wed-
nesday.

After a brief illness, George
Kness, well known and highly re-
pected citizen of this vicinity
passed away at his farm home ..
miles north of town, Monday even-
ing. Although he had been ill
for some time, his illness was not
thought to be of a serious nature
and relatives were not deeply con-
cerned over his condition ...
Sunday when he began to get
worse and sank rapidly away, ...
ing his eyes to this world and
troubles Monday evening at ...
o'clock.

George Elmer Kness was born
in Armstrong county, Pennsylvania
June 10, 1862, and died January
9, 1922. He was second son of
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kness.

His parents moved from Penn-
sylvania in 1869, from Poweshiek
county, Iowa, to Cass county in
1881. Mr. Kness has since resided
in this county.

He was married to Miss Mary
Henry in Exira December ...
1892. To this union were born
fourteen children, four of whom
preceded their father in death.
Those living are George, of Des
Moines; Dewey, Leonard, Beulah,
Pearl, Doris, Theodore, Bessie,
Kenneth and Mrs. Chris Riesgaard
all of Exira. He also leave...
grandson. Other relatives left to
mourn his demise are three bro-
thers, Enns, of Harris, Iowa;

sister, Mrs. Alice Boehme, of ...

Fourteen years ago he was ....
in a runaway and had a very se-
rious time, being compelled to have
one of his limbs amputated. Dur-
ing this siege he was in the At-
lantic hospital for five weeks and
twelve weeks in Iowa City. After
this accident he never fully re-
covered.
