OBITUARY

Albert Fredrick was born in How-
ard county, Maryland, the 28th day
of August, 1859, and died in Greeley
township Audubon county, Iowa, the
25th day of March, 1924, aged sixty-
four years, four months and twenty-
seven days.

He was the son of Jacob and Mary
Fredrick who homesteaded in this
county in 1878. He received his early
education in the public schools and
like most boys of forty or fifty years
ago knew what it meant to work hard
and receive little renumeration.

On the tenth day of May in the year
1885 he was married to Miss Nellie M.
Knox of Greeley township. To this
union eleven children were born, six
sons and five daughters. One son
and one daughter passed away in in-
fancy. Those who are left to mourn
his departure are the companion of
his youth and devoted wife, who shar-
ed in the struggles and participated
in the joys that are the common lot
of mankind, Clara Belle of Wessing-
ton Springs, S. D.; Iva A. of Oxford,
Maud Agnes of Exira, Ruth Esther of
Wessington Springs, S. D.; Lee A. of
Exira, Lloyd of Exira, Lyman of Wes-
sington Springs, S. D.; Earl and Mar-
vin of Exira; seveneteen grandchildren
and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Fredrick became a member of
the Congregational church of Exira
twenty-six years ago and had served
in official capacity as a member of the
various boards. He was also affiliated
with several lodges and fraternal or-
ders including the Masons, Eastern
Star, Ancient Order of United Work-
men, Modern Brotherhood of Ameri-
ca, National Reserve.

The active and strenuous life of Mr.
Fredrick was not solely absorbed in
that of material accumulation. He
found time to interest himself in na-
tional and local affaris having served
several years as township clerk, four-
teen years as secretary of the school
board and several terms as justice of
the peace.
