OBITUARY

Earl Edward Baylor was born De-
cember 4, 1883, and was the son of
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Baylor of Exira,
Audubon county, Iowa. He lived with
the family until he reached manhood,
then in the year 1912, he with his
brothers, Bernie, Walter and Andrew,
went to Regina, Sask., Canada, where
he has made his home ever since.

In January this year, he started
home on a visit so as to be here to
attend the golden wedding of his par-
ents on the 19th of February. He
first went to Osceola, Iowa, to visit
a sister, then to Muscatine, Iowa, and
New Boston, Illinois, to visit friends.
At the latter place he was taken ill
with southern smallpox and although
he had the best of care his sickness
was so severe that he passed away on
Sunday evening at nine o'clock.

He leaves to mourn his death the
father and mother, six sisters and
four brothers. His remains were laid
to rest in Eliza cemetery, Mercy coun-
ty, Illinois.

Earl was a man of most excellent
character, kind and gentle to one and
all. With never failing strength and
courage he bravely faced life's duties
and responsibilities. He will be great-
ly missed in the home and in the
community where he lived.

The long, rough road is ended,
His weary feet have passed;
How rough to his weak footsteps
Perhaps has not been guessed.
But with the weary journey,
He will be no more distressed,
The face we stoop to softly kiss,
Bears no impress but that of bliss.

We know that many pages,
Within the book of years;
Has been perused with anguish,
Amid the falling tears.
That partings, change and doubting
Have caused many, many fears.
Forgotten now each pang of woe,
No grief again his soul will know.

We cannot gaze at the dear, dead
features
Within the casket bound;
But know that he is dwelling
Where changeless peace is found.
That there no painful partings
His loving heart shall wound,
And weeping for him, "loved and
gone."
We gather strength to walk alone.
