If you go to the site below and put in Hazelwood Hughes, pick United States as the country and Iowa as the state there are three entries for him:

He was born in Kentucky and married Mary "Polly" Everman on November 13th, 1832 in Mt. Sterling, Montgomery, Ky.

Then if you change the state to Kentucky, the first entry in the International Genealogical Index - North America section gives his father as Peter Hughes.

Then I searched a Hughes forum for Hazelwood and found this. You'll have to cut and paste that whole URL into your browser to get it to work.

"I'm looking for information about the ancestors of Hazelwood Hughes . He was born in Montgomery Co. Kentucky Jan 12, 1809. Married Mary Nancy Everman Nov 13, 1832. Died May 2, 1894 in Vermillion Twp., Appanoose Co., IA. His children were Samuel and James Hazelwood."
