Fred Ahrendt was born March 31, 1859 in Mecklendburg Schweim, Germany, the son of Fred and Sophia Ahrendt.  Fred came to the United States, Grant Township, Plymouth County Iowa.  He worked for a year as a farm hand and then he purchased 80 acres, which he worked and broke the prairie.  He improved his land and raised grain and livestock. Fred married Gesche Cramer and the following children were born to this union:  Amanda, Fred, Emma, Henry, Masie, Ricka, Carl and Bernhart. ~Contributed history handwritten by family member, Nadene Binneboese
