Amanda M. Renken, 95, of LeMars died Monday, May 2, 1994, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Home in Le Mars. Services were held Wednesday , May 4, 1994, at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars with the Rev. Jack Hebard officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars.
Mrs. Renken was born July 4, 1898, in Grant Township, Plymouth County, Le Mars, the daughter of Fred and Gesche (Cramer) Ahrendt. She married Henry Renken Nov. 27, 1924, in Grant Township, Plymouth County. The couple farmed in Sioux County until 1957 when they retired and moved to Le Mars. He died Jan. 23, 1982. Mrs. Renken was the oldest member of Christ Lutheran Church and was a member of WELCA.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin arid his wife, Marian of Manson and Elmer and his wife, Lorraine of Ireton; three daughters, Wilma Renken and Marlys Renken, both of Le Mars and Deloris Moritz and her husband, Jack of Struble; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Ahrendt and his wife Kathryn and Bennie Ahrendt and his wife, Gladys, all of LeMars; and two sisters, Marie Renken and Rieka Otto, both of LeMars.
