---September 14, 1868, by Rev. John HEATON, at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. Zachery T. SMITH and Miss Adda TOWNSEND, all of this county.

---September 24, 1868, by Rev. J. A. WILSON, at the house of J. M. GUNTERMAN, Mr. Peter Z. SNOOK and Miss Margaret CLOAK, all of Jefferson county.

---September 17, 1868, at the house of William SHEETS, by Rev. John HAYDEN, Mr. James GLOTFELTY and Miss Margaret CUNNINGHAM, all of this county.

DIED—At her father’s residence, near Richland, Keokuk county, Iowa, Sunday, Sept. 27th, 1868, of Typhoid Fever, Miss Minerva SHERIDAN, aged 23 years and 21 days.

She was formerly a student of Fairfield College.  On Monday her funeral was attended by a large congregation, who came to pay their respects to her remains, and sympathize with the bereaved family.  Her sorrowing friends “mourn not as those who have no hope,” as she left them satisfactory evidence that she was going to a better world.  D. D.
