  TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

The association met pursuant to call.  The President being absent Mr. GLOTFELTY was called to the Chair.

Exercises were conducted according to programme drafted at last meeting.

A committee was appointed to draft a programme for next meeting which is as follows:

10:30  “ Intellectual Arith.,  N. GLOTFELTY,
11:00  “ Essay,           Miss Hannah RAMSEY,
11:30  “ Adjourrment [sic],
1:00 P. M. Theory and Practice,        D. HERON,
1:30    “ Select Reading,         Miss LINDLEY,
1:45   “ Penmanship,                 Mr. LOWELL
2:15   “ Grammar,                     W. C. DAVIS
2:45   “ General discussion,
3:30   “ Adjournment.

After which the following resolution was offered and adopted:

Resolved That we feel that the Teachers’ Association is a benefit to all teachers who attend;  and pledge ourselves to make an effort to attend the meetings, and earnestly ask all teachers to come and help us in the good work.

At 3:30 P.M. Association adjourned to mee [sic] at the new school house on the first day of January.       WESLEY HAMMOND

Estray sheep.--- Taken up by David KING, in Fairfield t’p, Jeff. Co., Iowa, Dec. 11, 1868, 26 head of sheep, 3 of them black;  all of them with a crop in right ear; marked on the rump with the letter R, (or X);  one has a slit in left ear;  the lot appraised at $20.

Estray heifer.---  Taken up by F. HOCK, in Walnut t’p, Jeff. Co., Iowa, Nov. 10, 1868, one red and white heifer, some white in forehead, white stripe on her back, right hind foot white;  upper bit in left ear;  supposed to be 2 years old;  appraised at $10.

Estray steer.---  Taken up by Martin FISHEL, Des Moines t’p, Jeff. Co., Iowa, Nov, 26 1868, one yearling red steer, tip of tail white; end of right horn broken off;  half crop off each ear;  appraised at $15.

Estrry [sic] cow and heifer,--- Taken up by T. W. WILSON, in Walnut t’p, Seff. [sic] Co., Iowa, Nov. 17, 1868, one red cow, the hull of her right horn off, bush off her tail;  has on a large bell on with good collar; half crop off right ear;  supposed to be 12 years old;  appraised at $16.  One ren [sic] heifer, some white on her back and belly, red and white tail, white on the legs;  crop off right ear and hole in same;  supposed to be two years old;  appraised at $15.

Estray mare colt.---Taken up James HENRY, in Fairfield t’p, Jeff. Co., Iowa, Dec. 7, 1868, one dark brown mare colt, two years old past;  star in forehead;  appraised at $55.

Estray calves.--- Taken up by B. McCLAIN, Liberty t’p, Jeff. Co., Iowa, Nov. 25, 1868, two steer calves.  One is red and white;  the other is a brindle;  some white on the back, belly, legs, tail;  the red and white one appraised at $10, and the brindle at $6.

Estray heifer.--- Taken up by W. D. INGALLS, Polk t’p, Jeff. Co., Iowa, Nov. 23, 1868, one red and white spotted muley heifer;  supposed to be two years old last spring;  appraised at $25.

From Glasgow.---  Through our valued Glasgow correspondent, we learn that the Masons of that town intend on holding a festival on the 26th inst., at the Methodist Church, at which prominent speakers are expected.  Also, that recently a marriage took place at the residence of the bride’s father, two miles North of Glasgow, between Mr. Samuel TURNER and Miss Mollie CASE.

The balance of the letter was received too late for insertion this week, but will appear in our next.

---Tuesday Dec. 15, 1868, by Rev. C. REED, at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. J. B. LAFFERTY, of Nornood [sic], Ill., and Miss Bell J. STEWART, of this city.

Our deepest thanks are hereby tendered for the bountiful supply of cake.  May happiness and prosperity, and all the good things of this life, ever attend the happy couple.
