Funeral arrangements have not been made. Peterson of the Foursquare gospel church will be in charge and burial will be in the Sugar Grove cemetery. ~ The Newton Daily News, March 4, 1930 __________Obituary: Mrs. Arthur AllgoodAlice Marie Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fay Thompson, was born March 18 1912 at Newton, Ia., and died at the Skiff Memorial hospital on Sunday morning, March 2, after an illness of two weeks following two major operations. Most of her life was spent in or near Colfax, where she was educated. About two years ago she, with her parents, moved northeast of Newton in the Amboy neighborhood. On Nov 2, 1929, she was united in marriage with Arthur Allgood of Oskaloosa. Mrs. Allgood is survived by her parents and Mr. Allgood, by her sisters, Mildred and Bernice and her brothers, Clifford and Lee, all at home, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Ferguson of Colfax and Mrs. Emma Thompson of Topeka, Kas., two aunts, Mrs. C. D. Boyd and Mrs. A. J. Main of Colfax, two uncles, E. S. Ferguson of Rochester, Minn., and Glen Ferguson of Newton, and several uncles and aunts in Kansas. Funeral services were held at the Morgan Funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Peterson of the Four Square Gospel church in charge. Three favorite selections, City Four Square, In the Garden, and Have Thine Own Way, Lord, were sung. Pallbearers were Jack Mann, Earl Wolven, Lloyd Slagle, Joe Meissner, Lyle Adams and Ted Dickerson. Interment was in Sugar Grove cemetery. ~ The Newton Daily News, March 7, 1930. |

Thompson, 94, of Colfax, a longtime resident of Colfax, died Sunday, Nov 6, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The Rev. Michael Orthel, pastor of the Colfax United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Colfax Senior Citizens will be accepted. Survivors are a daughter, Gloria Nordskow of Colfax; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was a former employee of the Automatic Washer Co. in Newton and the Monroe Co. in Colfax.
