Located
Section 10 Township 80 Range 10 Hilton from corner of Hy. 6 on south 
on Hy. 149 about 2 miles. East side of Hy, across the road from the 
active Lutheran Norweigen Church, and about 2 miles north from the 
town of Conroy.

History
According to the 1881 History p. 751 Hilton township "The burying 
ground on the north side of the road opposite the church has about a 
dozen graves, grounds recently laid out. The history of this cemetery 
and its people are in some way an extension of the one north which is 
back in the field known as the "Old Nelson" cemetery.

However additional Norweigans moved into Hilton township as other 
left. The earliest burials is that of a child of Chris Engelbert 
in 1856, or these early stones may have been moved from the " Old 
Nelson" cemetery; It is shown on the 1875 Atlas p. 19, on the F.
Fallentinson farm. For the Biographical background of these immig-

lished in 1915

Legal Description
Book 2 p. 153 Miscellaneous records, Iowa County Recorder: Norweign 
Lutheran Cemetery Association; Cemetery located SW corner of N W¼ 
Section 10 in Hilton township; to buy add. real estate; With regul-
ation of the Lutherian Church; Place of business Hilton township; 
Trustees; Andrew Jacobs- Halvar Olson-Gustave Olson--
Pres- Sec. Treas from them.
Names added; Jacob Jacobson-Henry Halverson- Alex Nerisaw - Dated 
May 27. 1893.

Condition
Maintained in perfect condition of all stones and ground; Stones 
were easy to read. Lots were not filled up with the trash of flowers 
and shrubs, landscaped only at various points. The vence across the 
front had been removed at some point in time, with frame left of the 
gate. The ground is flat, and gravel drive for easy parking; As of 
date read June 10, 1964 and rechecked May 23, 1975.

Recommendations:
So perfect nothing could be added; The church across the road, is 
a lovely addition.
