TIPPECANOE TOWNSHIP 1870
Township, 71 North, Range 7, West of the 5th Prin. Meridian.
Historical and Statistical.
TIPPECANOE TOWNSHIP was first settled by Charley Dawson, who built his cabin on section 1 in 1834, and the year after sold it to Wm. B. Lusk, who also claims to have the first settler in the County, he first settling in Center Township in 1834. Amongst others who came in in an early day, was Wm. Hockett, who came in 1834, and T. Wright, Linus Fairchild, Wm. H. Lyon, Thomas Grant, Wm. Holron, and Charles Maxwell, and many others followed, until now it is well settled; wherever there is an opening in the timber, there is a farm, as will be seen by the map. The Township is well watered and well timbered, and has many excellent farms. |
