Elliott White

Born in Ireland, Aug. 18, 1841. Came to Canada in 1863, where he worked in the lumber camps four years. Then moved to Fon du Lac, Wisc., where he worked in a stone quarry. In 1870 he came to Grundy county, Iowa, and worked one year for Geo. Bashford. In 1872 he was married to Frances Sweetser. They have lived in Grundy county ever since with the exception of five years just over the line in Black Hawk county. They retired from the farm in 1905 and have since made their home in Reinbeck.

Mrs. White was born in Portland, Maine, Sept. 14, 1851. At the age of five she came with her parents to Columbia county, Wisconsin. When sixteen she came to Iowa, making the trip as far as Dubuque with her brothers in a prairie schooner. From Dubuque they traveled by rail. The family settled on the Sweetser farm in Grant township, Grundy county.
