Edward Ashing of Wellsburg died at the Mechanics School at Kansas City. He registered September 12, but had not been drafted yet. He was going to school so that when he was drafted he could get into the Mechanics Department. Not long ago, his mother was called there when she got word that he was ill with the Spanish Influenza. He was improving and getting along fine when he suddenly became worse and died October 20th. His body was shipped to Wellsburg. He leaves Mrs. S. He worked in the Wellsburg meat market before he left, and played on the baseball team of Wellsburg when they were in the height of their glory.
