Description of Holland

Holland is located about the center of Grundy County on the C., R. I. & P. Railroad (Cedar Rapids and Sioux Falls Branch), about two and one-half miles northwest from Grundy Center in the center of a thrifty class of German farmers.

The population according to the official 1910 census is 176. The German Lutheran church have a nice building of their own and a large congregation. Rev. Muegge, pastor.

The public school in Holland is strictly first class and is giving satisfactory results. Two teachers; 75 scholars.

The following lines of business are represented: Bank, two general stores; drug store; two elevators; two implement dealers; one hardware; one furniture; one harness; one blacksmith; a hotel and restaurant; one meat market; lumber and coal dealer; also a large and up-to-date cement block and tile manufacturing establishment.

Taking it as a whole, Holland is an up-to-date town and would make a nice home for anybody.
