Description of Beaman

Beaman is a thriving little city located on the Chicago & North-Western Railroad, twelve miles southwest of Grundy Center, two and one-half miles east of Conrad, six and one-half miles west of Gladbrook, and sixteen miles northeast of Marshalltown.

The population at the present time, July 1, 1911, is about 210. It has two churches, Methodist Episcopal and Advent, also a good school of ten grades and is represented by the following lines of business.

One bank; first class hotel; livery; two general stores; hardware; harness; furniture; drug store; blacksmith shop; barber; meat market; lumber and grain; coal, etc.

In addition to above, Beaman has one of the best theatres in Grundy County. The above points of interest prove that Beaman would made a very satisfactory place for a home or place of business for any one.
