Family Obituaries

Henry Henrichs died about five o'clock Friday afternoon at the Eldora
hospital from old age and complications. He was 83 years old. He had
been in failing health the past two years. Because of his declining health
he closed the home in Grundy Center two months age and went to
Wellsburg to make his home with his son Henry Jr.

Funeral services were held at the Engelkes funeral home at Grundy Center
Monday afternoon and later at Bethany Presbyterian church. Rev. F. G.
Langenberg was in charge of the service. Burial was by the side of the wife
in the St. Paul's Lutheran church cemetery in Shiloh township.

Mr. Henrichs was a native of Germany. He was born in that country Nov. 13,
1851. In 1887 he came to this country and to Grundy county and for seven
years was employed on farms in the vicinity of Wellsburg. In 1895 he returned
to Germany where he was married to Agatha Tarsmen. shortly after their
marriage the couple came to Grundy county and made their home on a farm
six miles northeast on Wellsburg where they lived a few years, after which
they moved to a farm six miles west of Grundy Center where they lived until
1920 when the moved to Grundy Center. Mrs. Hendrichs died in December
1921. Following the death of his wife he lived alone in Grundy Center up to
two months ago.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters. The dons are E. H. living southwest
of Grundy Center, and Henry living in Wellsburg. The daughters are Mrs.
Klaus Smid, Waucoma, Iowa and Mrs. Homer Overstreet, Kirksville, MO.

Funeral services for Peterka Janssen Smid were held at the Burnham-Wood Funeral home Tuesday, March 16, 1976, at 2 p.m. with Evangelist Stephan Mick officiating. Pallbearers included Harold Schneider, Robert Stohr, Stephan Stohr, Gary Tubbs, Terry Krahn, and Norris Walvatne. Burial was in West Union cemetery.

Peterka Smid was born Dec. 24, 1856 to Henry Henrichs and Angtjie Janssen Henrichs. She was married to Klaus Smid. To them were born two sons and three daughters. Her husband died in 1968.

Survivors include her children, Robert Smid, West Union; Willis Smid, Willmington, IL; Mrs. Philip [Amy] Stohr, Aurora; Mrs. Glen [Lois] Tubbs, Alpha; Mrs. Mabel Banks, Chilhcoche, Mo; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Henry Henrichs, Grundy Center, and Eike Henrichs, Grundy Center, and a sister, Mrs. David Fox, Englewood, Colo.

Klaus Smid, 83, died Tuesday at Palmer Memorial Hospital. He was retired farmer in this area.

Services have been set for Friday, May 24, 1968, at 2 p.m. at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union.
Burial will be in West Union cemetery. Officiating at services will be Steven Mick, Boscobel, Wisc and
Leonard DeBuhr, Appleton.

Survivors include his wife, Petreka, three daughters, Amy, Mrs. Phillip Stohr,Aurora; Mabel, Mrs.
Wesley Stohr, Chilhocoche, Mo; and Lois; Mrs. Glen Tubbs, Alpha. Three sons, Wilbert from West Des
Moines, Willis from Chicago and Robert, West Union.
