WORLD WAR I DRAFT REGISTRATION CARDS
|In 1917 and 1918,
approximately 24 million men who were born between 1873 and 1900
registered for the draft. All men born between these years were
required to register on one of three registration dates:
On registration days, in most communities, businesses and schools were closed. Volunteers processed the registrations usually at schools and voting places around the county. Information on the cards includes some or all of the following:
Name, Residence, Date of Birth, Closest Relative, Exclusions, Brief Physical Description, Occupations, Etc.
Every male born between the dates was required to register. However, this does not mean that they were actually inducted into service.
If you would like a copy of your ancestor's registration card, please email Carly Josephson.
