J. E. Klahn of Wheatland was on our streets Friday.
Mrs. Peterson of Clinton, is visiting relatives here this week.
Prof. Wicks and family of Miles are visiting her parents this week.
D. Mervitt of Runston, Ill., is here visiting Clark Mowry this week.
Mrs. W. H. Potter of Clinton, Sundayed with her daughter, Mrs. Hill.
Mrs. Fred Horstman of Wheatland, is visiting Mrs. Henry Mowry at present.
J. H. Bielenberg and Henry Buse were in Davenport on business Tuesday.
Mrs. J. Edwards and son Earl left Tuesday night for a visit with friends at
Clarence, Mo.
On accout of washouts Mr. Bielenberg had to ship his stock vis Wheatland and the
C. & N. W. Tuesday.
J. W. Monroe of Dixon, visited here Tuesday. He left Tuesday night for a
week in Missouri and Kansas.
J. O. Devitt is building a new hay barn on the farm. McGill & Bright of
Massilion are doing the work.
Mrs. Kelly has purchased the two lots north of the school house and will build a
residence there soon.

Police court was a blank vacancy yesterday.
Rev. Henry H. Morrill conducted services at St. John's church last evening.
The inter-state meet at Athletic park tomorrow afternoon promises to be one of
unusual interest.
Rev. Mr. Luce of Davenport, will lecture at the First M. E. church, June 3,
using as his subject, "The Christian Home."
The assignee's sale of carriages for Weaver & Aderson, Wednesday, was quite
successful, some seventeen being sold, at low prices, however.

Mrs. Charley Miller is home from Springfield, Mo.
Thos. Northrup of Ida Grove, was in the city yesterday.
Mrs. Archie Howes is home from the Ottawa convention.
E. J. Saxton arrived in from the west yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. E. E. Overpeck of Chicago is visiting relatives in this city.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Main arrived in this city last evening for a visit.
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Fay came in from DeWitt yesterday afternoon.
The excursion to Davenport on the Verne, Saturday, will be a pleasing event.
The members of St. Mary's parish are arranging for a grand picnic to be held in
Union Park July Fourth.
Remember the Jo Long excursion up the river, Saturday. A fine ride and a
general good time are promised.
Willet Ferris and Miss Mary E. Foster were united in marriage by Rev. Mr.
Hulbert last evening.
Mrs. B. E. Copenhaver, who had been the guest of her cousin, Miss Nellie Brady,
departed for her home in Denver, Colo., Thursday morning.
The AGE was in error as regards the reception Wednesday night. The
reception was tendered to the Teachers' Round Table by Miss Burnham, at the
Grammar school.
The Woman's Christian Temperance Union will have an extra meeting Friday
afternoon, May 29, at 3 o'clock in Bowmen church to transact business relating
to the convention.
Mrs. F. W. Mahin prettily entertained a party of friends at a thimble bee
yesterday afternoon ata her Bluff Road home. Among the guests present were
Mrs. Bishop Perry and niece, Miss Richardson of Davenport.
The ladies society of the Congregational church will be entertained by Mrs. and
Mrs. Norman at the home of the latter, 632 Stockholm street, Friday afternoon.
Honorary members and young people especially invited. Tea at 6 o'clock.
A good place to spend Memorial Day is at Lauer Park. No pleasanter of
cooler spot could be chosen inthe city to spend a holiday. Judge Darling
and Atty. F. L. Holleran will entertain you on a subject which is dear to the
hearts of all true Americans. During the afternoon and evening
refreshments of all kinds will be served on the grounds and good music will also
be in attendance.

Robert Hall of Low Moor, was a business caller here Monday.
Miss Buell spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents at DeWitt.
Mr. Pierce and Miss Kelly of Clinton, ate their Sunday dinner here with
relatives.
Harry Rodefer,wife and son Harold spent Saturday and Sunday with Clinton
relatives.
Rober Kelly and sons Bruce and Lee of Clinton, were guests of Samuel Kelly and
family Sunday.
Mrs. Rice and daughter Minnie, of York, Nebraska, are the guests of Mrs. John
Rice for a short time.
Tom Williams of Marcus, Cherokee, Co., was the guest of his wife's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Kinkaid, the past week.
Messrs. Berkhill and Wiley of Low Moor, were up on Tuesday evening and took
their better halves to the I. O. G. T. at Low Moor.
