DeWitt Hausbarn opening will be during October Fest

DEWITT — Chamber of Commerce Director JoElla O’Connell presented activities planned for the 22nd annual October Fest to the DeWitt City Council this week.

The October Fest is set for Oct. 9 and 10 and this year will include the grand opening of the German hausbarn, O’Connell said. The event will include food vendors, live music, children’s activities and a beer garden. The hausbarn grand opening ceremony is 11 a.m. and will be accompanied by live German music and speakers, one of whom is a relative of the actual owners of the hausbarn.

Approvals and street closures for October Fest will be on the Sept. 21 agenda.
