Northwestern University, established in 1851, is located in Evanston, Illinois. It was the first recognized university in Illinois. The first building opened on November 5, 1855. Female students were first admitted in 1869 and the first female student graduated in 1874. Chicago Medical College and Northwestern became affiliated in 1870 and the Evanston College for Ladies merged with Northwestern in 1873. Northwestern University has branch campuses in Chicago and other Illinois cities.

Born 12 Oct 1843 in Centre County, Pa. Attended a course of study at the Rock River Seminary in Mt. Morris, ILL. Removed to McGregor in 1870 and in 1871 married Miss Judith Baugh.

Thomas Matthew Dahm
McGregor, Iowa. Is listed in the Northwestern Catalogue of Students 1904-1905, College of Liberal Arts. He earned a Doctorate at the University of Wisconsin and became Assistant Professor in Physics at that school. He later was Professor of Physics "at a western school". He may have died in Grover City, CA in 1965 (need confirmation of death date & place)

Teacher in McGregor, Ia., 1878-1880; married; lived in Wisconsin three years, in Idaho one year, in Kansas until 1895, and since in Alabama. President of the New Decatur, Ala., W.C.T.U. for three years and State Organizer for as long a period. Editor of a W.C.T.U. column in the Decatur Herald, weekly, for two years. With her husband organized Boaz, Ala., Seminary, where they are both teaching. Married Eleazar Ball Lee Elder (graduate #227), 7 July 1880, at McGregor, Ia. Residence (1903), Boaz, Ala.
