Jan 2014 - A huge thank you to J J Lynes who offered the possible identity of the couple in the very bottom photo:  "The photo is small but the young lady could be Lulu I. Melton and the man's image is distorted by the glare but could be L.L. Lynes based on and resembling these two individuals in other photos I have from that era; early to mid-1920's."

Janice Moen writes, "I am wondering if anyone can identify the picture of this young woman? Could it be the older girl shown in Unknown- Nelson #2 below?

Janice Moen writes, "My grandfather, Nels P Nelson, born in Afton Twp in 1881, had a sister there, Effie Nelson, born there in 1875, who married Charles Robinson. From information on another photo I have received, I am quite sure the younger girl is Effie's daughter, Joyce, who later married Otto Saxhaug and lived and died in southern MN. I think the older girl could be Joyce's older sister, Marie, who married a Thompson and lived in Illinois. Marie would have been born about 1898. Joyce was born 25 March 1902.

"The Charles and Effie Robinson family was living in Afton Twp (general farm occupation) Cherokee Co in the Census of 1910. At that time they had the 2 daughters, ages 12 & 8. The 1920 Census shows them living at Windom, Cottonwood Counry, in MN. They have 2 more children, Evelyn, age 9, and Royal G, age 7. Royal was known as Roy and "Bud." I am hoping to find more information on this branch of our Nelson family."

Janice Moen writes, "This photo was among my maternal grandfather's belongings. He was born on Feb. 17, 1881, in Afton Twp, Cherokee Co, IA. He was one of the middle children in a family of 12 siblings. The photo is labeled Wilson... Cherokee, IA. We think that we see a strong family resemblance in the adults. I am guessing it might be Peter C, and Mary Nelson and Mary's mother, Sidsel (Mrs. Claus Nelson.) If anyone can identify this family, it would be much appreciated. I know that Peter C. Nelson was returned to Aurelia from northeastern Minnesota for burial there in 1925. A child, Winifred (son), is buried there as well as other family members." Click here for Nelson Family Info
