Helen Audrey Macy was raised in Cherokee and moved to Livermore, California in her early 20's. She worked at the State Hospital in Cherokee for a few years and then took a position at a State Hospital in Livermore, California. My grandparents, Harry E. Macy and Leila Macy, lived on Summit St. until their deaths in 1979 and 1963, respectively. My grandfather worked for many years at the U.S. Post Office in Cherokee along with being a barber. His barber shop was below street level on the main street running through Cherokee. Helen passed away in March of 1983.
