Junior Reception

On the evening of April 19, the graduating class of 1901 were entertained by the Juniors at the home of Paul GILLESPIE on West Ninth Street. The house was beautifully decorated; the reception room was draped in the delicate class colors of the Juniors, while the dining rooms were hung with the more decided class colors of the Seniors, and the High School, black and gold. Lists of jumbled letters were given the guests to rearrange into the names of trees. A beautiful volume of " In His Steps " was awarded Fannie SANFORD as first prize. Mrs. R. H. BAILEY was given the booby prize, a rubber rattle. A most pleasing feature of the evening was when a hat was passed around to the Seniors, each one to take from it a card. The cards called on the unsuspecting Seniors for various performances-songs, quotations and political speeches being among them. The Seniors acted their parts nobly, showing their wit and ingenious presence of mind.

Maurice BLOCK toasted the Seniors which was responded to by John O'CONNELL on the part of the class of 1901. A delightful supper was served late in the evening after which the guests departed to their homes feeling that the Juniors well know how to entertain their friends.
