This is not a formal history of Lewis. It was prepared for a Crescent Club meeting, to be informal and entertaining, as well as informational. For lack of time, many details were omitted, resulting in only the highlights of over a century. Many thanks to Ethel and Frank Berry for generously making available to me their large collection of pictures, clippings and original documents. The original Historical Lewis was sold out several years ago. Many requests for a copy spurred Crescent Club to reissue the document as a Bicentennial project. I have added several features and have updated the last ten years. This is not an in-depth history, but it is an account of the local color of a small town and what it was like to be living there for the first century and a quarter of its life.
