The 1980 History of Cass County Iowa does not contain family histories biographies for the Oehler, Sharp, or Weiland families. There are numerous Smith family history articles, but references to R.L. Smith could not be found.

The following was found in the "Blakesley" family history article: "Leaving the banking business, Charles and Pat moved to Chicago where he entered optometry college. After graduation they moved back to Atlantic where he started his optometric practice in 1938." "Dr. Blakesley retired January 1, 1979 after 40 years in the practice of optometry in Atlantic."
