Nellie Edith (Passamore) NELSEN
April 16, 1890 --- June 25, 1938

MRS. ELMER NELSON BURIED MONDAY
Mrs. Elmer Nelson passed away at her home east of Goldfield Saturday after a lingering illness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. S. Bassett at the Methodist church on Monday afternoon. Interment was made in the Goldfield cemetery.

—OBITUARY—
Many hearts were saddened on Saturday by the news of the death of Mrs. Elmer Nelson, at her home, a mile east of Goldfield. Nellie E. Passmore, daughter of Henry and Flora Passmore was born at Dows, Iowa, April 16, 1890. Growing through the years of childhood and youth, she attended school regularly and graduated from the Dows High school in 1907.

Upon the death of her parents, about 30 years ago, Nellie went to Belmond and made her home with an older sister, Mrs. Carrie Morse. She taught school in Wright county for several years. On June 3, 1914, she was united in marriage to Elmer Nelson. This union proved to be very happy. They journeyed life's pathway together for 24 years. The home has been on farms in the vicinity of Goldfield. Mrs. Nelson accepted the Christian life when a girl, and joined the Methodist church in Dows. She bore a true Christian character through all the years, and died in the firm faith of Immorality in the heavenly land.

Mrs. Nelson was always a frail person but performed her full duties in school and in the house, but was never able to enter much into the life of the community. About twenty years ago she perceived the encroachment of disease, but continued to carry on her housework for the most part until last year or two. Gradually she became more frail until last Saturday morning about 5 o'clock when she heard the call of her Savior to leave her earthly life for the eternal life in the blessed place He has prepared for all who love his appearing.

In the parental family, there were four girls and one boy. Two sisters have gone on previous years and now Mrs. Nelson, leaving her brother, Henry Passmore of Green, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Crane of Hubbard, Iowa, together with her husband, and the close relatives who deeply mourn her passing. She is also survived by several cousins and a large number of other relatives. Geo. Ammerman Sr., being the only one living in this community. Ed. Nelson, a brother-in-law, has lived with the Nelsons for years as one of the family and is much like a close relative.
