Ida Peil Kerch was born near Holland, Iowa. She attended the rural schools and moved with her parents to the Alexander-Dows area where the family farmed. In 1912 she was married to Carl Kerch. They made their home on a farm near Dows and later moved to a farm near Kanawha where they lived until 1948. At that time they moved to a farm west of Eagle Grove. Mr. Kerch died in 1963. Ida continued living on the farm until 1981 when she became a resident of the Kanawha Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Louise Eenhuis, Kanawha; sons, Willard, Kanawha, and Richard, Eagle Grove; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Dena Pals and Kate Jessen, Alexander, and Mrs. Harold (Pearl) Walsh, Hampton; brothers, Edd Peil, Meservey, and Willard Peil, Alexander.
Mrs. Ida Kerch, 92, Kanawha, formerly of Eagle Grove, died Sunday, June 16, 1985 at the Kanawha Nursing Home. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the Lutheran Church in Kanawha with burial in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery.
