Roland Lloyd Hauswirth, son of Fred and Emma (Ricke) Hauswirth, was born in Reddick, Ill., January 21, 1901. He died Sunday, March 25, 1979, at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center, Friendship Haven at Fort Dodge. He moved to Havelock with his family when he was nine years old. He graduated from Havelock Consolidated High School and then engaged in farming with his father. In 1925, he was united in marriage with Neva Johnson. They farmed near Sexton and Rolfe before moving to Corwith in 1932, where they lived until the fall of 1961, when he was forced to retire because of encroaching blindness. They moved to Eagle Grove where they lived until November 6, 1978, when they moved to Friendship Haven. He is survived by his wife, Neva, and four children: Charpel of Corwith, Shirley Galloway of Fresno, Calif., Thomas of Des Moines and Ellen Lark of Minneapolis, Minn. He is also survived by one brother, Harold of Havelock and four sisters: Mrs. Hilda DePauw of Pocahontas, Mrs. Dena Miller of Laurens, Mrs. Ruby Nystrom of Havelock and Mrs. Lillian Feely of Eureka, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Harve, Clarence, Charles and Roswell; and two sisters: Ora and Ella. Also an infant daughter, Jean, and a grandson David Hauswirth. He was a life member of the United Methodist Church, the "60" Club, Royal Arch Masons of Iowa, Royal and Select Masters of Iowa, Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine of Eagle Grove, and the Paradise Lodge of Corwith.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 29 at 10:45 a.m. at Corwith Methodist Church, Corwith. Rev. Keith Pals and Rev. Donald Callen officiated with burial at Corwith Cemetery.
