Neva Fayetta Johnson was born September 17, 1905 at Rolfe, to Claus C and Bessie Bud Fessenden Johnson. She graduated from the Havelock Consolidated High School in Havelock. She was united in marriage to Roland L. Hauswirth in 1925 at her parents' home in Havelock. The couple farmed at Sexton and Rolfe before moving to Corwith in 1932, where they lived until 1961. Before leaving Corwith, however, she had attended and graduated from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. The couple moved to Eagle Grove where she taught in the Middle School from 1961 until 1976. They became residents of Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge in 1978. Mr. Hauswirth died in 1979. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Corwith and Eagle Grove, where she was very active in the United Methodist Women. She served as District Officer for the UMW. She also taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine of Eagle Grove.
Neva Fayetta Hauswirth died Friday, September 4, 1992, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant daughter, Jean; one grandson, David Hauswirth; and two brothers, Robert and Howard. She is survived by her four children: Charpel and his wife, Bunny of Corwith; Shirley Galloway, Fresno, Calif.; Thomas, Burlington; and Ellen Lark, Minneapolis, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William L. Johnson, Renton, Wash.; and Richard Johnson, Cripple Creek, Colo.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 7 at the United Methodist Church in Corwith. The Rev. Lyndon Roesler officiated. Interment was in the Corwith Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Corwith.
