Marvin Lindsay, 88, of Swaledale, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, at Retz Funeral Home, Thornton. Private burial services will be held at the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Marvin Dean Lindsay was born August 17, 1926, in Alexander, Iowa, a son of Russell and Esther (Meyer) Lindsay. He attended school in Alexander. On April 13, 1951, Marvin was united in marriage with Wilma Lauden at her parent’s home in Goodell. They farmed in the Alexander area before moving to his current farm near Swaledale in 1957. Wilma passed away in 2012. A lifelong farmer Marvin enjoyed being outside and being active. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, doing yard work and tinkering with things. Marvin is survived by his son: Arlen (Barb) Lindsay, Mason City; grandchildren: Jarrod & Jordon Lindsay; sister-in-law: Rosie Gerdes and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Wilma, and 2 sons: Roger and Robert.
