KLEMME, IA — Ardella Hanson, 88, of Klemme died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at the Concord Care Center in Garner. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at the United Methodist Church in Klemme with the Revs. Michael Shaffer and Donna Buckman officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., in Garner, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Ardella Darlene Rose Hanson, the daughter of William and Lydia (Meyer) Schneider, was born on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927, in Garner. She attended school in Garner, one year at the Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque and then returned to Garner to help with younger brothers as her mother was ill at the time. She later continued her education at Hamilton College.

On March 22, 1947, she was married to John Hanson in a double ring ceremony with John’s sister, Bonnie and her husband, Glen, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. For many years she kept busy raising her family. In 1966, she joined the work force and over the years was employed at Bock Oil in Garner, A.C. Nielsen in Mason City and Par Products in Klemme. In 1980, she started her own business out of her home making custom drapes and curtains. Ardella was very talented with sewing and no job was too complicated for her.

She was a Cub Scout leader when her boys were young and was a member of the Klemme Garden Club. She had an amazing sense of humor and was always the first one to lend a helping hand, or organize a family reunion. Family meant a lot to her. Ardella was skilled with the table saw also and helped her father build the house in Klemme she and John lived in. Later years, she became interested in genealogy and traced the family history of the Schneider’s and Hanson’s. We all became recipients of the hard-bound books she so diligently worked on and had printed.

Ardella is survived by her husband of 68 years, John; daughter, Janelle (Herman) Meyer of Mason City; sons, Dennis Hanson of Garner and Ron Hanson of North Richland, TX; grandchildren, Tina (Scott) Rippentrop, Tammy Meyer, Michelle Hanson, Jason (Patty) Hanson, Doyce (Elissa) Hanson, Jeremy Hanson, Amanda (Jason) Heyer, Ronda (Jonathan) Hicks, Heather (Daniel) Adams, Justin Hanson and Tyler (Jess) Hanson; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Ardeen Luker; brothers, Larry (Geri), Roger (Mary) and Bernie (Laura) Schneider; sister-in-law, Marie Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard in 2005; and brothers, Fred, Bill and Tom Schneider.

We would like to thank the staff at Concord Care Center for the excellent care Ardella received while she was a resident there.

Mom, you will live in our hearts forever.
