Anthony Mitchell Bruhl, the son of Cecil C. and Diana (Nickelson) Bruhl, was born July 13, 1990, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School, "Class Of 2008". Anthony participated in Wrestling and Cross Country – the team finished 5th in State in 2007.

Anthony entered the United States Air Force in May of 2009. He completed Boot Camp at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, TX and was then stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD. Following the service he worked for Boise Cascade in Leesville, Louisiana and the returned to Iowa in 2014 and has been working for Tyson Foods in Storm Lake.

Anthony was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. He was an avid Hawkeye and Vikings fan – always talking stats and draft picks! Anthony also enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing X-Box and had been an active Mixed Martial Arts fighter – with a 2-2 record.

Anthony passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, near Storm Lake, at age of 25 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Diana Bruhl and grandfathers, Glenn Bruhl and Garfield Nickelson. Anthony is survived by his father, Cecil Bruhl and wife Sheila of Eagle Grove; sisters, Amy Wold and fiancé Johnny Pederson of Fort Dodge and Angie Hammen and husband Ryan of Rockwell City; niece, Keira Hammen and nephew, Kayden Hammen; grandmothers, Georgiana Bruhl of Eagle Grove and Esther Nickelson of Otho, special friend, Brittany Strickland of Pleasantville; step-siblings, Bobby Hofbauer (Amanda) of Manson and Heidi Hofbauer (Zach) of Fort Dodge; step-nieces and nephews: Evan, Hallie, Ashlyne, R.J., Carter, Braddock, Brenley and Max and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, with Pastor Heather Dorr officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

STORM LAKE, Iowa -- One man died and two others escaped injury in a crash Friday night east of Storm Lake. Buena Vista County Sheriff Kory Elston reported in a news release that authorities responded to the accident near U.S. Highway 71 and 615th Street at about 11:07 p.m. A vehicle driven by Anthony Bruhl, 25, of Storm Lake was northbound on the highway when it collided with a southbound semi truck being driven by Geoffrey Sonnemaker, 54, of Omaha, the release said. A third vehicle, driven by Krysten Tatum, 29, of Sac City, Iowa, struck debris left behind from the collision. Bruhl had to be extricated from the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Sonnemaker was uninjured. Tatum suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital, according to the release. The accident is still under investigation.
